Yosemite Half Dome Permits


Yosemite National Park will implement the Half Dome Cables Day Use Permit Interim Program beginning this summer for ascending the Half Dome cables on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

 

No permits will be required for the Half Dome
cables Monday through Thursday.


Weekend and holidays permit reservations will be accepted starting Monday, March 1, at 7:00 a.m. PST, for the months of May and June, 2010.

 

Permits for July and August 2010 will be available on April1, 2010. For September and October 2010, on May 1, 2010. Reservations are available at 7:00 a.m. Pacific time.

 

300 permits will be available for each day, with a limit of 4 permits per reservation.

 

All permits will be available through recreation.gov, with no permits available for pick-up at the park. There is a fee of $1.50 per permit reservation.

Set-up your account in advance, before you attempt to obtain permits on the web.

The permits will be referred to as "Tours" on the Recreation.gov web site. This should not be mistaken with a guided tour. You are not making reservations for a guided tour, but simply acquiring a Half Dome Cables Day Use Permit.

Recreation.gov in cooperation with the National Park Service has set up step by step instructional pages on their site specifically for the Half Dome permits to assist in this process:

There will be safety information on the Recreation.gov web site, as well as a link to the YOSE web site which also has additional safety and trip planning info, including a video.

The Recreation.gov web site for Half Dome is available for viewing now by the general public.
