Pepsi Gives Away Money!

Did you know that this year Pepsi gave up their Superbowl advertising and is applying the money to local projects and giving away $1.3 million a month? In January Goose submitted the Groveland Dog Park for a grant of $5,000. The voting process began 2/1 and runs through the end of the month. You can vote once a day for the Groveland Dog Park.

But this isn't about one application for Groveland, it is about coordinating a full on effort of Grant Funding Requests for all of the fabulous programs we are working on through the many organizations that "do stuff" around here. Many of our projects easily qualify for this Pepsi Millions program. We can't ignore such an opportunity. 

We must get a project a month entered into this giveaway. Who will work with me on this? I am hoping for a representative from ALL the "Groveland Builders" and Regional Partners: Kiwanis, Rotary, ROOFBB, Yosemite Chamber of Commerce, Soroptimists, GAINS, STCHS, Yosemite Gateway Partners, Lions, TCVB, Yosemite Turns 120 in 2010 on 120 committee, John Muir Highway Committee, Scenic Byway Committee, The Trails Group. What about the Churches and food banks? ....Everyone! Let's calendar our applications, get our plans together and bombard the world with our good stuff and big needs! As I write this, all Grant application positions for February are already full, 1000 requests, and we didn't get ours in. Let's not miss the rest of this year of opportunity!

One year of a minute a day to vote isn't too much to ask to see some of our dreams for Groveland and the region come to pass. I think it important that we don't overlap more than one project per funding category per month Let's organize! Mark your calendars for Friday, Feb. 26th at 11 am at the Hotel Charlotte to meet and layout our 12 month plan! A second meeting on Tuesday, March 9th at 11am for follow-up. Folks who missed the first meeting are encouraged to join us the second meeting. There are 4 categories a month we can submit to, $5k, 25k, 50k and 250k, that gives us over 40 projects to work on!

Those attending should visit the Pepsi website and look at some of the entries for the different values, what are people asking for, what is reasonable, what degree of readiness is your project, can your project be completed within 6 months. Specifically, what would the money purchase? Come prepared to win!
