Under “President’s Message” PML News, February 2010 Mike Gustafson included a paragraph alluding to establishing a “low-power” shooting range located in unit 16.

One of the primary directives for any board of directors in California non-profit gated communities is, “….the maintenance of property values.”

I don’t think that the reverberations of the sharp crack of rifle or handgun gunfire echoing off the various topographical areas in and around PML will, “….enhance the property values” of this neat community!

If the board is so energized and eager to garner some government grant monies, why not for a PML circumference hiking and biking path (no horses) that would allow the retirement community here to maintain their health and keep them off the already dangerous residential roads?  That kind of idea would keep you all occupied and utilize your imaginative energies for an extended time.  And, that kind of project would be an enormous, satisfying long term one that would benefit the whole community, not just a “group”, and most of all, fulfill your primary directive.

Maybe Mr. Gustafson and/or the rest of the PML board would like to locate this “low power gunfire” in their own backyard?

I personally moved here to enjoy the peaceful environment.  I have nothing against the ownership of guns.  There is a place for everything.

But, a shooting range in PML?  NIMBY! (Not In My Backyard)

I say, “NO, NO, NO, NO! To…. a bad idea.

Put it next to your residence, Mr. Gustafson.
