A story about a community with a bus that couldn't be used.
Some time ago a generous fellow named Larry Jobe donated funds to buy an
idle bus from BOFGSD with the intention that the bus would become a
community bus. By regulation, buses that are not used for transporting
children to and from school can not be yellow. And so the yellow
bus sat at GCSD, awaiting the day it could escape its parking place and
boldly carry passengers to and from this and that place around Groveland.
Roll forward a bit and planning for the 49er festival and a solution to
parking congestion: "We have a bus! ....Alas, it must be painted
before use."
Goose, the never-miss-an-opportunity dog brings the idea home to Lynn and
his sponsors at Camp Tuolumne Trails to see if they can get the
bus painted. Lynn really did not think she could rally the effort with so
many things going on in the summer. But never fear, the forward thinking
team of Paula and Jerry, in the blink of an eye, picked up the ball
and ran with the project and now Groveland has a perfectly legal bus added
to the plethora of neat things the community provides.
Here are some photos of Goose helping the Team at Camp Tuolumne
Trails paint the GCSD bus.
Goose supervises from the back of the bus. He is pleased with the work so far.
Goose has a planning meeting with Bill Bent while John Infelise does all the actual work.
Goose tests the emergency exit and is glad that is was just a test!
It was quite high for his short legs.
Goose thinks Larry Jobe is really generous to Groveland and thanks
Jerry and Paula Baker and the Tuolumne Trails volunteers (Virginia and
Mike Gustafson, Bill Bent, John Infelise, Jerry Porter and
Tom Bickmore) for helping GCSD get the bus ready for use in our
community!
