A few weeks ago my friend and I were getting ready to turn into my driveway.  We came down a hill on Pine Mountain Drive and saw a baby deer that was just hit.  The person that hit it did not stop.  A few weeks later I came up to my place and slowed down to turn into my driveway.  I had my signal on and try to keep it at 25 (the speed limit).  I know coming down that hill most people pick up speed.  I had to wait for a car to come the other way before I turned into to my driveway.  Next thing I looked into my review mirror and saw a truck skidding sideways to stop avoiding hitting me by inches.

I thought back to the baby deer that was hit at the same spot a few weeks back.   We all celebrate our release from liability on the Ken Lett Suit.   I fear we are going to have an even bigger law suit hit is some day soon.

My neighbors on the other side of the road have small children.  Often they lose a ball and it come bounding down the hill across the street.  The kids sometimes chase after it. So when will that deer be a child?

I took a mini survey and stood by the corner of my driveway for one hour.  During that time I witnessed 32 persons driving with obvious speeds well above the speed limit. I even wrote down the description of the car or truck and their license plate (some partial because the went so fast by me).   Some were contractors or residents pulling heavy trailers.  So how will they stop in time, if needed?

My point here is that we need to start taking responsibility on driving these roads.  I am not calling for speed bumps but maybe if the residents and contractors will not slow down we should explore other solutions.  I would hate this as well but maybe we should be placing three and four way stop signs at every intersection.  That would reduce some of the people from speeding.  However,  when my wife and I go for walks we often see people running the stop signs.

My question to the community and management is, are we wanting another major law suit?  If we don't start governing our selves someday it will be to late and I don't want it on my conscience that we did not act.  If the residents don't act some day they will hear of a sad tail and you will all feel guilty for being a contributor to that poor persons death. I for one have fought in the most recent wars.  Having peoples death on your mind is not a pleasant thing, ask some of my friends who fought with me?

OK COMMUNITY,  WAKE UP AND HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT GET WORSE!!!
