It is done. The papers have been filed and the petitions are printed and ready to go. Most of you will at some point be approached soon to sign them recalling the local school board. A board that consists of Mary Kelly who ran because no one else would at the time (bless you Mary but that has changed) Chuck Day who also ran unopposed, Dave Gookin who won his election, and Lillian Cravens and Bryan Berger who were appointed when other board members quit.   Please remember first of all that you do not need to sign all of them, though we are hoping you will. You can pick and choose if you like. I could go into pages of reasons why you should sign them all but all I really ask is that you read the informational flyers that are out there. Ask questions of the supporters. Talk to the majority of the parents, staff and teachers of our 2  'on the hill' schools, many who have lived and taught here for 15+ years.   As a parent with 2 children (1 in Tenaya and 1 in Tioga) who has lived here 30 years and worked in the school system off and on all that time, I can honestly say I have NEVER seen seen our teachers so unhappy. They have lost faith with our school board and have major issues with the superintendent. She is a big part of this recall, as is Ryan Dutton (the wonderful math teacher and coach who is on unpaid administrative leave) but not all of it. Our district is in dire financial straits. Our new status of a 'Basic Aid School' brings with it a whole new set of issues that need to be addressed and quickly. It is YOUR home tax dollars supporting our schools DIRECTLY now not the old way of ADA. (average daily attendance)   I don't want to rattle on as I tend to do. Please be supportive of us,  the parents/grandparents/guardians and especially our teachers, who have officially voted 'no confidence' in this school board. They know more than any of us what is happening at our schools. Get informed. This is not something we do lightly. Look at the names of the proponents of the petition. You will recognize many of the names...not just mine. They are your friends, neighbors, long time residents of our wonderful community. Ask us questions.
